my sister-in-law was over last night and mentioned that someone had stopped her in a parking garage and told her she had no brake lights. I went out with her to investigate the issue. Her 3rd light still works but the two regular brake lights do not. Its a Sentra (2011?). The taillight units have two bulbs which are always illuminated. When the brake is applied the 3rd lights up but nothing else happens. I'm guessing one of the bulbs in each housing is dual filament and they are just both gone. Anyway, being the responsible Opponaut that I am, my advice to her was to forget about buying the bulbs and just got get a Fiat. I tried pushing the Abarth but I think its a bit too much money and its not really her style. That Sentra sucks, its really just a boring tin plastic can.

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the word responsible.

My friend had a Sentra just like that and I drove it once when my car was having some brake work done. Holy shit that thing sucked. I guess I have a predisposed dislike of CVTs but that car wasn't a good drive all around.

You should've told her to get a Mazda 3. Similar size. Better gas mileage. More power. More fun.
Brake lights are expensive and this is a sign the car will die at any minute, right?

Check the brake switch, if that's fine, check the bulbs. If that checks out, check the wires in the trunk to make sure they're not frayed or pinched. If that checks out, junk the car and get the previous SE-R or the newer one.

exactly. bail now before it brakes the bank. I think she likes the little cuteness of the Fiat. Its actually the first time I've ever heard her mention anything about cars.

I couldn;t see it being the switch with the third light still working. I will check the wires.

Sometimes having one bad bulb will cause the whole circuit to go wonky.

I'm not a fan of the non Abarth 500. Too small for me. Too much focus on style and not driving experience.
I did see one in a really nice dark green. BRG type green with tan interior that looked really good. It was a manual too.

You're right. Maybe it's a relay?
